कहीं एक मौसम (Kahin Ek Mausam) | Somewhere A Season
Title: कहीं एक मौसम (Kahin Ek Mausam) | Somewhere A Season
Runtime: 19 min
Language: Gujarati with English subtitles
This film was shot in the Dang forests of Gujarat.
The forest-dwellers have seen multitudes of alterations throughout their existence. Even though they still keep bees and rear cows, a new rhythm (लय) prevails––a new existence within nature, reminiscent of nature's flow. The breath of the dwellers (i.e., the mother, the bees, and the cows) aligns with the breath of nature manifested as the changing seasons to create a larger synergy. This piece is an attempt to create a quality of attention (ध्यान) that makes this rhythm (लय) of nature palpable.
Somewhere a forest stands still while the monsoon breathes. A calf is born, and her mother licks her clean. The bees breed. A mother sings a lullaby to put her son to sleep, and a villager disappears into his dream. The forest dwellers live in the contemporary as well as the cosmic. The present manifests and transforms endlessly. A gentle experience of 'laya' (temporality).
