The following images are real TIME magazine covers, adapted and painted differently by the artist to make his own commentary.
Saudi artist Faisal Abdulaziz AlKheriji, born in Jeddah, is a self-taught artist. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Boston and as his techniques improved, he started creating his own painting style, which mixes cubism and surrealism, to create distinct characteristic portraits that reflected his culture in a new and beautiful way. AlKheriji’s works always carry an existing element or pattern from the history and heritage of Saudi culture. He draws inspiration from artists such as Picasso, Matisse, George Condo, and many others, believing that there is no right or wrong when it comes to art. AlKheriji prefers listening to the thoughts and explanations of the viewers of his work before explaining the original idea behind the paintings, and he hopes that one day he can represent his culture through his art globally so they can learn from the history and beauty of Saudi culture.
