من يعرف كيف يكون،2019

This work focuses on a memory of my cousins, siblings, and me. We grew up together in Ajman, but over the years, we have spent less and less time together. “من يعرف كيف يكون,” the title of this series, means “Who knows who we will be.” It pays homage to the famous song every child in the region listened to during my adolescence.

Born in 1998 and raised in Abu Dhabi, UAE, Aisha Al-Ali is an artist with a BFA in Visual Arts and a minor in Curatorial Studies from Zayed University. Brought up between Asian and Middle Eastern traditions, she aims to portray her own culture; Japanese culture: and everything about her subjective self, including self-identity, memories, nostalgia and visual memory through her art. Aisha’s work has been published in Harper’s Bazaar Art and has been exhibited both locally and internationally.
