Passing Parade

In this series, Henry Hu focuses on the stolen moments in between, where there is a strange unfolding of vacuity that occurs. These various states of transition––the waiting, and the boring bits––yield a world seemingly suspended in time. All there is left is our gaze, a little bleary, and a little distorted, giving us just enough for a fleeting glimpse. Perhaps, to recognize the slow temporality of all passings, or simply, to appreciate the spell of nostalgia.

Working with various mediums, Henry Hu’s (b. 1995 Hong Kong) emerging practice commits to an infusion. An exchange. An immediacy. A link between the interior and the exterior—of a self, a being, an identity, a consciousness. Often juxtaposing the past with the future, differing forms of surrealistic fantasies unfold across his works; along with a recurring structure, the heart of all Hu’s series rests in harmony.
