a combi, that dancing toddler
stumbles on a pothole.
a young mother struggles
out of her wrapper, slaps
tepidly, as if there is a fly
at her braids
it’s too hot
again, be careful
the roads are quiet,
they have tooth
gaps, where the wind whooshes through
the baobabs accepting their fate and
the leaves nod solemnly while
chewing on a piece of meat
waiting
for the next combi
and the next government.
