Longing

longing.jpeg

Loud sighs, loud yells, and even louder tears
I push, she pulls, and we crash in an embrace.
Her shoulder a soft armrest for my weary soul
“You’re my first mistake” she whispers in my ears.

I am nothing but unfinished thoughts,
my chest a lone gulping horse trying to reach her
Insides turn from thunderstorms to droughts.
No matter how far, no matter my longing.

Airport walls witness our sincere heartache,
Witness also our sorrowful embrace.
We are the ocean that relapses into rocks
We go too far, long too long, and we break.
